Wine tasting in the Langhe: visit to the vineyards and the Massimo Rivetti winery
If you’re staying with us at Eremes and feel like spending a few hours among vineyards, cellar and good wine, this is one of the experiences we like to recommend.
The Massimo Rivetti Family Farm, in Neive, offers a tour that lets you discover up close the Langhe area and how wine is made: you start in the vineyards, you go into the cellar and you finish with a tasting of five organic wines in Neive’s historic center.
It’s an enjoyable experience even for those who aren’t especially knowledgeable about wine: during the visit, the work in the vineyard, the winemaking process and the features of the different wines are explained in a simple way.

1. A walk through the vineyards
The visit begins among the vineyards surrounding the winery.
Here you can see up close the land where Massimo Rivetti wines are born and learn about the philosophy behind how the vines are grown. The estate follows the principles of certified organic farming, with special attention to biodiversity and respect for the land.
The vineyards visited also include rows with vines over 60 years old: it’s right here that, in our view, you start to understand how much wine is tied to the Langhe territory.
Eremes’ tip: if it’s a nice day, enjoy this part of the visit without rushing. The Langhe landscape is an integral part of the experience.
2. From the vineyard to the cellar
After the walk you enter the cellar, where the story continues.
Among the barrels the different stages of winemaking are explained: this is where the grapes harvested in the vineyards are turned into wine, then left to mature and age.
It’s an interesting part especially for those who want to understand what’s behind a bottle. So not only tasting, but also a chance to learn about the work done before it reaches the glass.
3. The tasting in Neive’s historic center
The final part of the visit takes us to the historic center of Neive, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The tasting takes place in an early-19th-century building and includes five organic wines produced by Massimo Rivetti. The selection can be chosen directly during the experience, and each wine is presented by describing its features and distinctive traits.
It’s probably the most relaxed moment of the visit: after seeing the vineyards and the cellar, you finally sit down with a glass and can savor what you’ve just discovered.
